A seminar on “How to Face Interviews” was organized by AESICS-CSI Student Branch on 19th March, 2011. Mr. Aditya Patel, Asst. Professor and AESICS-CSI Student Branch welcomed the participants and gave introduction of the speaker. Mr. Hetav Dave, HSBC Software, Pune shared his real life experience of conducting interviews and live project experience of working with various MNC clients.
In the first part, Mr. Hetav Dave discussed technical details like database normalization, de-normalization, database performance tuning, query optimization, database design, architecture, database migration, database backup, recovery and maintenance of users. He also covered real life aspects of client interaction for requirement gathering, development, Unit Testing, Peer Review, designing and developing complex stored procedures to support the business logic of the system, database migration from Access to SQL Server 2008 and various quality practices followed in IT projects by CMM level companies. In the second part, Mr Dave shared his experience of conducting various interviews for fresher’s seeking IT jobs. He explained how to prepare a professional resume and its format and presentation of information in the resume. He discussed various DO’S and DONT’S in IT interviews and also explained importance of various soft skills and presence of mind to successfully crack IT interviews.
The seminar concluded with mock interview session conducted by Mr. Dave and it was followed by interesting question and answer session. The seminar was attended by around 100 students and 20 faculty members. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Pratik Munshi, Asst Professor, AESICS.
