Second Workshop on System Software

Two days second workshop on System Software was organized by AESICS-CSI Student Branch during 22-23 November, 2009. It was organized as an extension of the first workshop on system software (14-15 Nov, 2009), which received overwhelming response and interest from the students, faculty and CSI members of various colleges/Institutes across Gujarat. The objective of the workshop was to provide in-depth conceptual and practical exposure to system software like compilers, interpreters, macro processors and assemblers. Mr. Bipin Mehta, Director, AESICS and Hon. Secretary, CSI gave introduction of CSI to new members, benefits of CSI membership in professional career development and various new initiatives and member services by CSI.

On the first day, Prof. Samir Patel covered the details of Compilers and Interpreters and Assembler pass - I and II along with the related practical. On the second day, Dr. Jyoti Pareek covered Macro Processors, theory and practical aspects of program development of macro processors. The technical sessions were followed by interesting question and answering session and doubt solving by the students. The workshop received overwhelming response in terms of 40 registrations from the student, faculty and CSI members of various colleges/Institutes across Gujarat and 15 new CSI student members were enrolled along with the workshop. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Aditya Patel, Asst. Professor, AESICS and Mr. Vinay Vachharajani, lecturer, AESICS.

Two days "Workshop on System Software"

Two days workshop on System Software was organized by AESICS-CSI Student Branch during 14-15 November, 2009. The objective of the workshop was to provide in-depth conceptual and practical exposure to system software like compilers, interpreters, macro processors and assemblers. Mr. Aditya Patel, Asst. Professor and AESICS-CSI Student Branch Counselor welcomed the participants and gave introduction of the resource persons, Dr. Jyoti Pareek, Dept. of Computer Science, Gujarat University and Prof. Samir Patel, Nirmal University. Mr. Bipin Mehta, Director, AESICS and Hon. Secretary, CSI gave introduction of CSI to new members, benefits of CSI membership in professional career development and various events organized by CSI.

On the first day, Dr. Jyoti Pareek covered Macro Processors, theory and practical aspects of program development of macro processors. On the second day, Prof. Samir Patel covered the details of Compilers and Interpreters and Assembler pass - I and II along with the related practical. The technical sessions were followed by interesting question and answering session and doubt solving by the students. The workshop received overwhelming response in terms of 80 registrations from the student, faculty and CSI members of various colleges/Institutes across Gujarat and 55 new CSI student members were enrolled along with the workshop. All the participants were given the registration kit along with workshop CD. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Vinay Vachharajani, lecturer, AESICS and MC-member, CSI-Ahmedabad Chapter.

Lecture on Software Project Development for Career Enhancement

A lecture was organized by AESICS-CSI Student Branch on 07 November, 2009 for final year MCA. Mr. Bipin Mehta, Director, AESICS and Hon. Secretary, CSI welcomed the guests and provided introduction of the guest lecture and importance of final year project development in the MCA program. The objective of the guest lecture was provide guidance to the students about how to develop industry acceptable, CMMI and engineering standards based software projects using systematic methodologies, documentation and tools. Mr. Deepak Kulaskar, Regional Head-West, GTT Pvt. Ltd started his session by explaining how to go ahead with career building in the IT industry. He elaborated on which type of projects to select for MCA final year, which tools and technology to use and how GTT platform can help the students in successful execution and implementation of the projects. He highlighted the need for common platform for sharing the knowledge between students, academia, Industry and technology experts at each stage of the project development lifecycle. In the second session, Mr. Abhik Chakraborty, Vice President-Networks, GTT Pvt. Ltd emphasized on importance of developing quality projects using well-accepted software engineering practices and employing proper tools and technology for successful completion of the projects within deadlines. He also shared his industrial experience on various challenges and causes of failure in software project development. He provided overview of GTT (Global Talent Track) and GKPP (Global knowledge platform for Professional practice) and how it provides integrated environment for project collaboration, online reviews for students, mentors, industry forming complete eco-system. The lecture was followed by interesting question and answering session from the participants. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Bipin Mehta, Director, AESICS. 60 students and 20 faculty members participated in the event.

A talk on “Modern Programming Approach

A talk on “Modern Programming Approach” by Shri Shreyans Soni, SDET, Microsoft India, Hyderabad was organized by AESICS-CSI Student Branch on 10th February, 2009 for MCA students. The objective of the talk was to prepare the students for the current industry requirement. Shri K. K. Patel, Asst. Professor, AESICS has welcomed the resource person and he elucidated the importance of modern approach of programming in industries. Mr. Shreyanse Soni described how to develop applications intelligently with plentiful examples. He advised the students to be a smart coder and emphasized on to ask “Why I write this?” themselves each time when they write a statement in the application...

The seminar on career development and guidance by Prof. Ravindra Joshi, International Institute of Information Technology, Pune was organized by AESICS-CSI Student Branch on 19 January, 2009.
